Meet the Teachers

Ms. Elizabeth, Lead Educator
Hello, my name is Elizabeth Wiegert and I have been a teaching since 2010. I have a Masters degree in Early Childhood as well as a degree in Elementary Education.
I taught Kindergarten for nine years and have also taught both first and second grade. I love working with children and enjoy watching them learn and grow both academically and socially.
My husband, Chris and I have three children. We are very busy but love every minute of it. We love to travel and enjoy being outdoors with the children.
Joining KECC in 2022, I love the school and the community. I am looking forward to this school year and being a part of the Lion team.

Ms. Margie, Classroom Educator
My name is Margie Thornton. I have been teaching preschool age children for a long time. Before coming to KECC, I was a preschool teacher at St. Joseph Educational Childcare Center. I began working at St. Joe’s ECCC while attending Fontbonne University. I have been teaching at KECC since 2002! I have been a part of the Lion Room since 2012.
I live in Barnhart with my husband, Cary and our two beautiful black Labs, Marley and Libby. I am a mom to two grown daughters and a “Gigi” to six grandchildren.
When I am not here, I enjoy caring for my five grandchildren! I also enjoy cooking, shopping and spending time with my family! My favorite place to be is relaxing on a beach.

Ms. Kayla, Classroom Educator
My name is Kayla Mahoney, and I am proud to be a Kirkwood Early Childhood Lion!! I am from St. Louis, received a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a minor in women’s studies from Webster University.
I have a true passion for working with our youngest learners and love watching them grow. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures their growth in a positive, fun environment.
In my spare time, I enjoy visiting coffee shops, going hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Carla, Flexible Classroom Educator
My name is Carla Ruth, I joined the KECC team in 2024. Before coming here, I was at Keysor Elementary doing Adventure Club. Working with preschool age children has always been my goal. I've enjoyed seeing them learn new things. Having them be curious about the teachers and our school.
I look forward to this upcoming year. I will be in all of the 3/4 classrooms once a week.
