Meet the Teachers

Ms. Alex, Lead Educator

Hello! I am Alex Yahl and I joinined KECC in 2025 as the certified teacher in the Frog Room! 

I graduated from Truman State University in 2016 with my masters in education. I previously taught at North Glendale Elementary for 6 years, mostly the kindergarten, and then in 2023 began working in the education department at The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum. There is something so magical about being inside the classroom, especially with our youngest learners!

My husband and I live in Glendale with our two children, Harper and Jake, and our two dogs, Duke and Cali. We love to play outside, make art projects, go to the zoo and library, and take trips with our family to the lake. 

I am so excited to be a part of your child’s educational journey and look forward to our year together!

Ms. Courtney, Classroom Educator

I joined the KECC team in 2021 and have worked with children from birth to age 5 for many years.  I have my bachelor's degree in social sciences.

Working with Kirkwood’s youngest learners is my true passion because they bring so much joy to each day.

I am eager to get to know your child and help them grow.

At home,  I am raising two daughters along with two dogs and also some turtles.  They all keep things interesting!

Ms. Melissa, Classroom Educator

Hi, I’m Ms Melissa and have been teaching at KECC since 1999. 

I believe our school family is made up of unique individuals each with their own learning style, interests, hopes, and dreams. I strive to make a classroom feel like a home, a place where everyone feels safe and loved.

This is a place where everyone belongs. I believe play is crucial for our little ones throughout their day. In my experience, social skills are the foundation of a successful learning career. I believe children learn best when we let them navigate and lead in the experiences they have every day.
